Amsterdam, Netherlands
We all know what some people admire about Amsterdam, but what we love about the place is the vibe, the place just seems to be buzzing. We have been there a few times now because we really enjoy getting back to this beautiful city, with those romantic canals, stunning buildings and open minded people.
There are bikes galore and clearly it is the most efficient and convenient way to get around. Although by foot is good too, especially for those walkaholics like myself. After a quick pit stop to fill our tummies with a box of pasta, we decided to just take our chances and just get lost in this city and hopefully along the way find some locally made product. We walked, and walked and finally stumbled across an artists market, with lots of gorgeous paintings and other artwork to choose from. We purchased some great pieces,, and had long chats with the artists too which made the purchases that little more special.
Once we had done a spot of shopping we took to the streets again and covered a bit more ground before we found a craft market with handmade products of all sorts to choose from. We settled for some great accessories (retro handbags and purses) and a gorgeous dress for a lucky little girl too. Too cute to resist. Our purchases were all made and sold by the stall owners, so not only did we get to buy some great things but we also were able to meet some great people.
We finished the day off sipping on beers at a bar overlooking one of the many canals, with a live band serenading us with some brilliant music. Amsterdam is an incredible city, with amazing history, open-minded & creative people and architecture to die for. We will definitely be back!
