London, England
London was the last stop on our itinerary and we only stopped there for a day. I really wanted to visit my grandmother who is now in a nursing home in Watford and we were hoping to find some unique purchases and meet some interesting people in the short time we were there.
Within a 24 hour period we dropped our car off at the drop off point in Amsterdam, caught a shuttle bus to the airport, flew from Amsterdam to Heathrow, caught a taxi from the airport to hotel, caught a public bus from hotel back to airport, took a train from Heathrow into London, took the tube around London (stopped at a food market to buy chocolates for my grandmother), caught the train out to Watford to visit my grandmother, taxi to and from the nursing home, back on the train to London, back on the tube a bit more (with a pit stop at Camden Market to meet some locals who were selling their handmade goodies), a bit more tube-ing, dinner at a yummy Thai restaurant (mmm delicious veggie curry)!
Then trained it back to Heathrow, public bus back to hotel and then first thing in the morning took the shuttle bus back to the airport to get on the plane bound for Melbourne. Typing this out has made me realise how ridiculous that day was. To say we were tired by the end of all that would be an understatement. But what a trip!!
