Wola Nani
Wola Nani is a Xhosa word meaning "we embrace and develop one another". It is also the name of an organisation that was started in 1994 to help people from very poor communities within the Western Cape living with HIV and AIDS. Often socioeconomic factors play a role in shaping the destiny of people living in the communities where Wola Nani operates: factors such as limited education opportunities, low skills levels, limited work experience as well as very high levels of unemployment and poverty. Wola Nani allows the crafters to be able to provide shelter as well as education for their children solely from income earned from the program. Wola Nani provides, not only the opportunity to earn an income but also the very vital technical expertise that helps with exporting the creative products.
